Fall News

It seems like just yesterday that I was anxiously waiting for the peonies to arrive in our garden. Now the season is winding down here in Edmonton at latitude 53 and we’re having one of the loveliest autumns I can remember. Summer was busy on several fronts in my studio. I took a lot of photographs of the peonies I grew — a total of 8 varieties came through this year. I supplemented these with seasonal flowers from the florist and have quite a lot of good reference photos to draw from through the fall and winter ahead. I’m really pleased with that.

The other bit of news is that I will be represented by three new galleries: Cotswold Contemporary in Cirencester, Denison Gallery in Toronto, and Gallery Merrick in Victoria.

It’s quite exciting and gratifying to think that these paintings will be making their way to various parts of the world and finding homes there. On my social media I’ve been sharing my mantra from the last couple of years and it’s one that resonates not just here where I live in Edmonton, Canada with our long and cold winters, but in other parts of the country and in the world. And this mantra is:

Art Helps
Beauty Matters
Flowers Help

The work above is my latest offering to my new galleries, but let me break that down further.

These next three paintings are at Cotswold Contemporary in the UK.

  1. Rose Bouquet

  2. Peony Bouquet

  3. Blue Hydrangea

Each are 36” x 48” and £4995.00

The following three paintings are at Denison Gallery in Toronto.

  1. Peony Summer I, 47” x 60” $8200 CAD

  2. Peony Summer II, 48” x 60” $8200 CAD

  3. Peony Summer III, 50” x 60” $8400 CAD

The last two here are going to Victoria at Gallery Merrick.

  1. Last of Summer, 40” x 60” $7600 CAD

  2. White Peonies, 40” x 60” $7600 CAD

Thanks for reading. I’m mainly posting on Instagram these days if you’d like to follow me there. I’ve been experimenting with “reels,” and have had some fun showing a bit of the behind the scenes processes of my work. People seem to like them and while I don’t take them too seriously, they’ve also allowed me to see what is of interest to those watching. I guess after painting for 40 years, I take a lot of the art process for granted and it’s been lovely and interesting to see that others are curious and enjoy looking at the everyday life of the artist.

If you’ve never bought a painting before but are interested in any of the above it’s quite a painless process! Simply message the gallery and they’ll guide you through the rest. Galleries typically arrange for the art to be delivered anywhere in the world and are skilled in hanging, packaging, shipping, you name it.

– thanks,

Rob
